Inductive compensation systems

The inductive compensation systems of the INКA series are the extension of the spectrum of classic compensation systems into the inductive range in order to compensate for equipment with capacitive characteristics. A cost-effective, switchable fixed compensation is completely sufficient. However, it is easily possible to equip several fixed stages with an additional controller module which switches the stages on or off depending on the compensation requirement. Compared to capacitor stages of the same power, inductive compensations (shunt reactors) have a somewhat higher power loss. The power losses as well as the higher space requirement and the higher weight of the chokes determine the possible design variants. The basic version is in IP20 for indoor installation with natural convection, this is intended for installation in a closed, electrical operating area. Alternatively, there is the indoor version in IP42 with thermostat-switched fans. For outdoor installation, there is the cost-effective IP32 version with natural convection cooling, which requires an installation protected from the weather (especially rain) and direct sunlight. In addition, there is a version in a double-walled IP54 housing for outdoor installation with an air-conditioning unit. Systems in this version should also be installed in a weather-protected location, as is the case with IP32 systems. Particularly in no-load operation, input filters of inverters or cable networks exhibit a clearly capacitive behaviour. In total, this can result in a capacitive reactive power of several 100 kvar for a photovoltaic park, for example. However, this capacitive reactive power is generally not desired by the grid operators and may result in high costs for reactive power. This capacitive reactive power is usually largely constant, so in the vast majority of cases it is not necessary to install a controlled inductive compensation system.
